Two infoboxes
[edit]Someone added a philosopher infobox beneath the saint infobox. Do we want to keep both? Aristophanes68 (talk) 16:59, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- I think no. It seems unnecessary and unwieldy to me. Keep the saint one, remove the philosopher one. There hasn't been much activity on this article in a serious way for a while, so I may just do this myself if no one objects in a few days. — AlekJDS talk 05:37, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. He is notable both as a saint and as a philosopher. The philosopher infobox is a quick, handy way to check out his stats as such. carl bunderson (talk) (contributions) 04:36, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
"Confusing section" template
[edit]I have added a template indicating that the Philosophy section of this article is confusing to readers. See the above discussion on this page under the section heading "Not written in encyclopedic style" for my thoughts on the problem. — AlekJDS talk 05:37, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- It seems clear enough to me; so what specifically do you want clarified? carl bunderson (talk) (contributions) 04:36, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Two dates for canonization
[edit]The top biographical section gives the date for canonization as 14 April 1482 by Pope Sixtus IV. The section "Feast day" repeats the year of canonization as 1482. The section "Theology and works" gives the date of canonization as 1484 by Pope Sixtus IV. I recommend someone investigate, correct the error(s), eliminate repetition, and add a detailed reference to the date settled on. Theo2amore (talk) 02:48, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Plagiarism
[edit]The entire philosophy section appears to be plagiarized from the sources cited at the end of each paragraph. According to Wikipedia's guidelines on plagiarism, the section should be erased, or rewritten to include paraphrase and quotations. 74.77.143.77 (talk) 23:44, 27 September 2014 (UTC) student
- If you're referring to the 1907 Catholic Encyclopedia entry or the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica, both appear to be public domain. Mannanan51 (talk) 05:17, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
Name
[edit]Important info missing: Why was he sainted with the name Bonaventure when his real name was Johnny Fidanza? And wouldn't it be spelled Buonaventura since he was Italian (Papal States)? - Tangverse (talk) 05:33, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
'Life' section - why Roger Bacon?
[edit]The Life section refers extensively to people other than Bonaventure, but it's not clear why they are mentioned (their connection to his life). Can anyone knowledgable fix this? Eteb3 (talk) 12:51, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
